The Spartanburg Youth Theatre is excited to present Dr. Seuss’s The Cat in the Hat October 8-9 at the Chapman Cultural Center.
Based on the best-selling book by Dr. Seuss, in this classic story Sally and her brother go on a wacky adventure with the Cat in the Hat, his many props, and his mysterious friends Thing 1 and Thing 2!
“This will be our first live performance for a public audience since February 2020. Our actors have worked so hard on this show and we can’t wait to share it with the Spartanburg community,” Adam Sanders, Spartanburg Youth Theatre Director.
The cast and crew of Dr. Seuss’s The Cat in the Hat is comprised of local youth in grades 3 -12, supporting the Spartanburg Youth Theatre’s mission of producing theatre “by youth, for youth.”
This show is recommended for audiences ages 4 and up, and has a run time of 1 hour.
In accordance with Chapman Cultural Center’s current COVID 19 safety policies, and the current CDC recommendations, all audience members, staff, and volunteers must wear face masks as they enter the building and throughout the performance. Seating capacity has also been limited to 2/3, allowing patrons to adjust seating once in the theatre if they wish. The Chapman Cultural Center has made upgrades to their HVAC system to increase filtration and allow increased air introduction into the theatre, and additional restrooms will be available in the adjacent buildings throughout the show to avoid lines.
Dr. Seuss’s The Cat in the Hat plays at the Chapman Cultural Center on October 8at 4:30 pm and 7:00 pm, and October 9 at 2:00 pm. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for youth, and can be purchased by phone at (864) 542-2787 or online at www.spartanburgyouththeatre.com. A 20% group discount is available for groups of 10 or more.
