Home By Dark takes a step back from the pop-mainstream to celebrate the songwriters behind the chart-topping hits. Founded and hosted by songwriter James Casto, Home By Dark pairs the best writers in the world with expert instrumentalists in this musical journey through multiple stylings and genres, proving once and for all that a song can truly change your life. Performing in the Peace Center concert will be Tony Arata, Michael Logen and Emily Shackelton.

“Creating authentic musical experiences that leave audiences with something meaningful is what Home By Dark is really all about,” said Casto. “As songwriters, our hope is that people truly connect with the lyrics
and these concerts give audiences a firsthand look at the stories behind some of their favorite songs.”

Arata has been in Nashville since the late ’80s and ever since, he’s been the go-to writer for some of the biggest names in country music. Garth Brooks has recorded seven of Arata’s songs, with “The Dance” winning Song of the Year at The Academy of Country Music Awards and snagging a Grammy®nomination. Arata has also reached No. 1 with “Here I Am” for Patty Loveless, “I’m Holding My Own” for Lee Roy Parnell, and “Dreaming With My Eyes Open” for Clay Walker.

Logen tours as a pop/folk artist and has opened for some of the best in the business, including John Legend and India.Arie. His music has been featured on several network television shows, and he has had songs recorded by world-renowned artists like Kelly Clarkson, Sister Hazel, Mat Kearney and more.

Shackelton is a 2007 Berklee College of Music alum and has performed her original songs around the country, most notably appearing on Garrison Keillor’s A Prairie Home Companion. Shackelton’s song “Dream Big” was performed on American Idol by 2008 winner David Cook and she is currently writing for Liz Rose Music/Warner-Chappell. Her songs have been recorded by artists like Sara Evans, Cassadee Pope, Karyn Williams and Wynonna Judd.
