On Tuesday, July 14 join Glow Lyric Theatre at Blues Boulevard downtown for an evening at The Hot Mikado Lounge. The evening will include 1930’s themed jazz standards sung by the professional singers from the cast of the “The Hot Mikado”.
Glow Lyric Theatre and the Urban League of the Upstate have joined forces to transport you back to the speakeasy days of the 1930s and encourage you to come out to eat, drink, and maybe even dance a little.
Generally this evening is set up as an event for our donors, but we had so much fun planning it that we decided to open it up to the public! So let’s get our speakeasy full of people enjoying music, celebrating diversity and the arts! You will also be helping Glow Lyric Theatre and the Urban League of the Upstate raise funds to continue putting on great shows and supporting great causes.
Tickets for the event are $50 each, and include entry into The Hot Mikado Lounge as well as admission to the July 18th performance of “The Hot Mikado” at the Peace Center for the Performing Arts Gunter Theatre.
For centuries, the thrill of the chase has captured the imagination of young and old alike. With a program featuring Rossini’s ever-popular William Tell Overture, John Williams’ cool film score to Catch Me if You Can, and others, you’d better buckle up for this one. If you’re lucky, you can catch Conductor Michael W. Moore for a pre-concert talk at 6:45pm. Give chase!
