The Spartanburg Little Theatre kicks off its 2017-2018 production season with Legally Blonde: The Musical, an upbeat musical take on the hit comedy film. Nominated for seven Tony Awards, Legally Blonde explodes on stage with memorable songs and energetic dance numbers. Equal parts hilarious and heart-warming, this musical is so much fun, it should be illegal! Performances are September 8, 9, 15, 16, 22, and 23 at 8 pm, and September 10, 16, 17, and 24 at 3 pm at the Chapman Cultural Center.

“Legally Blonde is one of the smartest musical adaptations of a popular movie comedy,” says John Fagan, the musical’s director. “The dialogue is witty. The music is catchy. There are plenty of characters to root for, especially the effervescent Elle Woods.”

Elle Woods appears to have it all. Her life is turned upside down, however, when her boyfriend dumps her so he can start getting serious about his life and attend Harvard Law. Determined to win him back, Elle uses her charm to get into Harvard Law. At school, she struggles with peers, professors and Warner Huntington. With the help of Paulette and Emmett, though, Elle quickly realizes her potential and sets out to prove herself to the world, smashing stereotypes along the way.

“I hope everyone will come out to cheer on this talented company,” says Fagan. “To say ‘you’ll be tickled pink,’ would be an understatement!” Tickets for Legally Blonde: The Musical can be purchased by calling the Chapman Cultural Center box office at (864) 542-2787 or by ordering online at  http://www.chapmanculturalcenter.org . Tickets are $30 for adults, $27 for seniors and $20 for students. 20% discount for groups of 10 or more.
