Mississippi Residents Urged to Exercise Caution as Dense Fog Impacts Roads

Jackson, MS – A dense fog advisory is in effect until 10 a.m. Thursday, causing hazardous driving conditions across central and southern Mississippi. Visibility has been reduced to a quarter-mile or less in some areas, creating a dangerous situation for drivers on major roadways, such as I-55, I-20, and I-220.

The National Weather Service reports that patchy dense fog will continue throughout the early morning before clearing by mid-morning. For safety, drivers are advised to slow down, use headlights, and maintain extra distance between vehicles. As temperatures rise, the fog will begin to dissipate, and skies will clear, with highs expected to reach 81°F by Thursday afternoon.

Looking ahead, Friday will bring mostly sunny skies with a high near 79°F. Light southwest winds will provide calm conditions through the weekend, though gusts could reach 25 mph on Saturday. A slight chance of showers returns Saturday night, but the overall weather for the weekend will remain warm with highs in the 70s.

Residents of Mississippi should remain cautious this morning and anticipate improving weather conditions later in the day. Stay informed with local weather updates and drive safely.
