Police Nab Suspect Just Moments After Stabbing Woman on METRO Bus

A man was arrested late Sunday night after Houston police say he followed a woman off a METRO bus, robbed her at knifepoint, and then brutally stabbed her. The attack occurred just before 9 p.m. near Shepherd and Memorial Drive.

According to investigators, the woman had just gotten off the bus when the man followed her. He then threatened her with a knife, demanding her belongings. During the robbery, the man stabbed the woman multiple times. Police said the attack left her seriously injured, and she was quickly taken to a local hospital, where she underwent surgery. At last report, she was in serious condition.

Responding officers treated the woman’s injuries at the scene before rushing her to the hospital. Authorities said the woman’s description of the attacker helped police quickly track him down. Using a K9 unit and helicopter assistance, officers were able to locate the suspect near Center Street and Washington Avenue, not far from the crime scene.

The man, whose identity has not been released, was taken into custody and charged with aggravated robbery and aggravated assault. Police also discovered evidence linking the suspect to an armed robbery that occurred earlier in the evening, around 6:30 p.m., in the same area. Investigators were able to recover the knife used in the stabbing but have not yet located the gun involved in the earlier robbery.

The attack shocked the local community, as it occurred in a busy area, with many people on the streets and near the METRO bus stop. Houston police are continuing their investigation, and METRO police are assisting in the case.

The woman’s condition remains serious, but she is receiving medical care. Authorities have not released her name, and the investigation is ongoing. Police are urging anyone with information about the earlier robbery or the attack to come forward.

“We are grateful for the quick response from our officers, which led to the arrest of this suspect,” said a spokesperson from the Houston Police Department. “Our thoughts are with the victim, and we will continue working hard to get justice for her.”

This incident has raised concerns about safety for METRO riders, and the Houston Police Department is assuring the public that they are taking steps to address crime in the area. Authorities have not provided further details on whether the suspect was known to the victim or if the attacks were random.

As the investigation continues, officials are asking anyone who witnessed the incident or has information about the suspect to contact Houston Police or Crime Stoppers.
