Tragic Murder of Fort Campbell Soldier: Two Suspects Charged in Brutal Stabbing
In a shocking development, two individuals have been charged in connection with the gruesome murder of U.S. Army Private First Class Katia Dueñas Aguilar, who was stabbed nearly 70 times last year, according to authorities.

The Clarksville Police Department announced on Saturday that Sofia Rodas, 35, has been charged with first-degree murder and tampering with evidence. Meanwhile, Aguilar’s husband, Reynaldo Salinas Cruz, 40, faces charges of tampering with evidence in relation to her death.
Both Rodas and Salinas Cruz had been previously detained on unrelated federal charges before being extradited to Clarksville, Tennessee, on Friday. Their attorneys have not yet responded to media inquiries regarding the case.

Aguilar’s body was discovered in her home in Clarksville in May 2023. The Montgomery County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed that she suffered a staggering 68 stab wounds to her neck and upper body. The cause of death was officially ruled as a homicide due to sharp-force injuries.
At the time of her death, Aguilar was stationed at Fort Campbell, located on the Tennessee-Kentucky border. She was a dedicated member of the 101st Combat Aviation Brigade, 101st Airborne Division.

Originally from Mesquite, Texas, Aguilar enlisted in the U.S. Army in 2018. She was not only a committed service member but also a loving mother to her 4-year-old son. Her tragic death has left her family and friends devastated.
Her sister, Cecilia Ruiz-Aguilar, revealed that Aguilar had been considering leaving the Army but ultimately decided to stay after consulting with an Army counselor.
“She would tell me she wasn’t happy over there, and I wanted her to come back so we could make more memories,” Ruiz-Aguilar told KTVT-TV.
