EL PASO, Texas — A tragic accident claimed the life of a 32-year-old El Paso woman, Monica Alvarado, after she failed to maintain her lane of travel while driving on I-10 East near Sunland Park. The crash occurred late Friday, Dec. 13, according to El Paso Police.

The El Paso Police Department’s Special Traffic Investigations Unit responded to the scene at approximately 11:30 p.m. after reports of a single-vehicle crash. Investigators determined that Alvarado was driving an SUV eastbound on I-10 when, for reasons still under investigation, she lost control and veered off the roadway.

The vehicle reportedly left the travel lanes and crashed, causing fatal injuries. Alvarado was pronounced dead at the scene.
