Fairfax County Police Arrest Man for Attempting to Meet Minor He Met on TikTok

FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. (7News) — A 30-year-old man from Minnesota, Trent Fair, is facing a series of serious charges after traveling over 1,200 miles to Virginia in an attempt to meet a 15-year-old minor he had been communicating with on TikTok. The Fairfax County Police Department (FCPD) reported that the suspect was arrested on Saturday after law enforcement responded to a call at a home on Blue Ridge Court, near Reston.

The father of the child discovered Fair inside the residence with their 15-year-old child, which led to the police being called. Upon arrival, officers arrested Fair, and detectives with the Child Exploitation Unit took over the investigation. Authorities later determined that Fair had met the teenager on TikTok and had traveled from Minnesota with the intent to engage in illicit acts with the minor.

Fair faces multiple charges, including four counts of Solicitation of a Minor, five counts of Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor, and one count of Production of Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM). He is currently being held at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center without bond.

The police department issued a strong warning to parents, urging them to closely monitor their children’s online activities and to make use of available security settings to protect against inappropriate content or interactions on the internet. Authorities also encouraged children to report any instances where they are approached by individuals trying to engage in inappropriate conversations or coerce them into sending sexually explicit images.

The FCPD is continuing to investigate the case and is calling for any additional information or tips related to this incident or similar cases. Those with information are urged to contact the Major Crimes Bureau at 703-246-7800, option 6. Anonymous tips can also be submitted through Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS (866-411-8477) or online.
