WASHINGTON – Homeland Security Today, a publication by the Government Technology & Services Coalition (GTSC), announced today that former Deputy Administrator of the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), Holly Canevari, has joined its Editorial Board.

A Strong Background in Transportation Security
Holly Canevari most recently served as the Deputy Administrator of TSA, where she oversaw daily operations with a particular focus on aviation and surface transportation security. Before her role as Deputy Administrator, Canevari held the position of Chief of Staff at TSA from March 2021.
Canevari’s journey with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) started in 2010 when she joined as a Senior Advisor to the Assistant Secretary for Policy. She contributed to major initiatives focused on resilience and screening. From 2012 to 2017, Canevari was the Chief of Staff for the Office of Strategy, Policy, and Plans. During this time, she played a pivotal role in the strategic realignment of activities and fostered collaboration on complex policy matters across DHS.
Before joining DHS, Canevari worked in the private sector, focusing on national security clients. Her extensive career also includes notable roles on the U.S. House Committee on Homeland Security for Chairman Bennie Thompson and former Congresswoman Jane Harman, where she specialized in port security, information sharing, and aviation security. She was a key figure in the development and passage of the SAFE Port Act of 2006, a legislation aimed at enhancing maritime and cargo security.
A Wealth of Experience
In addition to her experience with DHS and TSA, Canevari’s early career saw her working with Congressman John Larson, gaining a wealth of knowledge in security-related issues. Canevari holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Boston College and a Master of Arts degree from Johns Hopkins University.
At Homeland Security Today, Canevari joins a prestigious group of columnists and colleagues, including former Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff, former Acting Homeland Security Secretary Elaine Duke, former FEMA Administrator Brock Long, and Francis X.
