Towson, MD — A shooting and fiery car crash in the Baltimore suburb of Towson on Tuesday night left one person dead and nine others injured, according to Baltimore County Police.
Incident Overview
Police responded around 7:15 p.m. to the 8500 block of Loch Raven Boulevard following reports of gunfire and a vehicle crash. Upon arrival, officers discovered a vehicle on its side and engulfed in flames near a funeral home. Several gunshot victims were found in the surrounding area.
“It appears to be a mass shooting incident,” said Baltimore County Police Chief Robert McCullough during a news briefing. “We have multiple persons who were shot. Right now, we are determining the circumstances and the conditions in this case.”
Current Status
As of Wednesday morning, nine people remain hospitalized. Authorities have not disclosed how many of the injured suffered gunshot wounds. The identity of the deceased victim and the cause of death have not been released.
Investigation Underway
Preliminary investigations suggest the incident was isolated and targeted, with no ongoing threat to the community. Police have yet to announce any arrests or establish a possible motive.
“We will leave no stone unturned and we will dedicate every resource to this,” McCullough emphasized. “We don’t generally see incidents like this in our community in Baltimore County.”
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the Baltimore County Fire Department are assisting in the investigation.

Baltimore County Executive Johnny Olszewski expressed shock at the incident, calling it “unheard of” for the area. “We want our residents to know that we are fully committed to ensuring our fire and police departments have the full support and resources they need,” Olszewski said.
Next Steps
Baltimore County detectives have been working through the night, interviewing witnesses and reviewing surveillance footage to establish a timeline of events. Officials are scheduled to hold a news conference at 1 p.m. on Wednesday.
